Here are a few small things people loved about him.
"To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die."
Please share your photos and memories about Daniel.
Dan was ... Just referring to Dan or D in a past tense is breaking and I keep hoping I don't have have to do this and it's all fake.
D was man of peace, he carried laughter, smiles where ever he went. I would say he had a thing for calming down situations effortlessly.
Rest in Peace D.
You occupy a great space in my memories of Secondary School. All our days of Damisa and inter house sports. You always came up with songs and one I vividly remember is “Tega was a beggar and he started playing sega”… Lol Daniel. You going came as a shock to all of us but it really hit deep. I have no words, I can’t comprehend this. Rest on Daniel ❤️.
It feels so heavy trying to put this into words because my heart is still broken by your absence.
I remember the very first day I had just gotten to the Geology department late and had to stand at the back of the class, trying to settle in quietly. Then you said something funny, and I couldn't help but laugh. After the class, you came up to me and asked for my name, which I told you, and asked for yours too. From that simple exchange, a friendship began.
It all grew so naturally from there. I introduced you to my very close friend, Favour, and you brought us into your circle Chuksy, Ugo, and Ifeanyi.
One thing I will never forget about you is how you always showed up. Whenever I complained or felt overwhelmed, you didn’t just listen. You tried your very best to find a solution. You had a way of making things feel lighter and reminding me that everything would be okay, even when it didn’t seem like it.
Daniel, I still find it hard to believe you're gone, It hurt so much more than I can explain. But it is well, God knows the best.
Rest well Daniel, you're forever in my heart.
*Rest on, my baby D*
Oh my baby D, I don’t know when I’ll ever get through the shock of losing you. I still keep hoping someone will wake me up and tell me this is just a dream.
Just days before you left us, you messaged to check how I was doing. Why didn’t you tell me you were going to rest? You know I never would have agreed to let you go. Oh why, baby D, why?
You fought like a soldier. You never wanted to leave us. You endured pain with a smile, and that’s why we never realized how serious your sickness was.
I cared for you when you were born like my own baby, and that’s why I’ll always call you baby D. You’d always say, “I’ve grown now,” but in my eyes, you’ll forever be my baby. Did you forget all our plans, all the promises you made? Why did you leave without fulfilling them?
Everyone loved you. The children you cared for in the children’s meeting will soon be asking for you. We’ll all miss the unique way you clapped your hands in meetings.
Daniel, we will miss you so much. I’ll console myself knowing you knew the Lord, and you are with Him now. I have faith that I will see you again, and we’ll all be with the Lord together, never to part again.
Rest on, my baby D.
From your uncle James Onyebuchi.
Daniel was one of the realest people I met in school. A proper Jon Bellion fan, he was always himself, no acting. He just had a way of showing up for people when it mattered.
We played ball together a couple of times, and we were always so confident having him in the back line. He was like a fortress—a literal Gandalf, "you shall not pass" energy. He was a proper baller, but more importantly, he was a man of truth. He stood by what was right regardless of the situation. He really had no enemies; it was impossible not to respect him.
He was a rare soul, and he'll be deeply missed.
