Daniel, or “Esiwe” as we fondly called him, was truly one of the most joyful and genuine souls I had the privilege of knowing. My memories of him are filled only with warmth, laughter, and kindness.
When I think about Daniel, I think about those Wednesday afternoons during sports/afternoon prep in SS3 when he’d always come sit with me, and we’d just gist about the most random things. Those little moments meant so much and they became something I genuinely looked forward to every week. we would laugh uncontrollably for 10-15 minutes straight! he had a way of making even the simplest conversations unforgettable.
Daniel was such a joyful person. Always full of life, laughter, and he composed the most insane poems in our final year in NNSS😂. He brought so much light wherever you went and made people feel included and comfortable.
Even after we all went our separate ways for university, he never stopped checking in. Our calls, sometimes lasting for over an hour were always filled with laughter, real conversations about life, and memories from simpler times.
It is deeply heartbreaking to lose someone whose presence was so full of light. Daniel was more than a classmate, he was Mr. Smarty Pants to me😂 a friend whose kindness, humor and beautiful spirit will never be forgotten. I will always hold onto the good memories he brought into our lives.
Fly high, Rest in God’s bosom, Esiwe.🙏🏾🕊️
Daniel introduced me to one of my favorites musicians, Jon Bellion in SS3. His locker was beside mine and I always enjoyed how he sang his songs amongst other music he could pull off heart. Daniel is someone who you can’t help but notice in a room. He doesn’t even have to do much. His aura was natural. I will always remember him as someone who would collect my novels and run around to joke about “magic pages”. Again I won’t forget this memory when I was in university and sang some Job Bellion songs line after lines interchangeably. Now when’s I listen to a Job Bellion song, I will think of you my dear friend. You were a light in this world. I can’t believe I’m writing this but that’s how strange life is. I have come to notice that death usually snatch people who have lived fully. Daniel did. And he will continue to live in the hearts of everyone he inspired and encountered. Goodbye my dear friend, I’ll forever remember the memories we shared together.
Daniel always made peace wherever he was and made sure everyone was happy and loved
